I am Lindelani Mabuyakhulu, one of the lucky students to have received a bursary. Firstly, I would like to thank the Umthombo Youth Foundation for tackling the issue of shortage of health care professionals in rural areas and sponsoring unprivileged students from rural areas.

Having my tuition fees paid for is the best thing that can ever happen to a student, and it is every student's dream. I would like to thank you for the amazing work that you have done. The generous contribution has lifted the burden on struggling families like mine.

I now can sleep well at night knowing that everything is taken care of.

I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of the Witwatersrand. The financial assistance provided to me is of great help in paying my university expenses, and it allows me to focus more on my studies and worry less about the finances.

I have been funded by the UYDF for a year now, and my marks have already improved as I can now focus more on my studies. My plans at this stage are to complete my medical degree in record time.

Coming from a disadvantaged background has not only made me notice the financial challenges that I come across, but also the importance of education. Upon realising that, in the future, I will not only be making a difference within the health sciences field, but I will also play a role in making education a possibility for other individuals like me.

My life is a lot less stressful now that I have a bursary. It takes me a step closer to fulfilling my dream and becoming a medical doctor.
